Darcy began playing the trumpet in his primary school band program, and has been hooked on music ever since.
Growing up in Launceston, Tasmania, Darcy travelled to Hobart frequently to study with Mark Bain and Yoram Levy of the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra, both of whom inspired him to pursue a career as a trumpet player. Darcy recently completed a Bachelor of Music at UTAS under the tutelage of Yoram Levy.
In 2018 he participated in the Masterclasses in Contemporary Music Studies in Lucerne, Switzerland, placed second in the International Trumpet Guild Solo Competition in San Antonio (USA), and performed as a casual musician with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
Darcy is currently training at ANAM with Tristram Williams and David Elton.
