Andrew recently left ANAM to further pursue his career.
Andrew Baird is a recent graduate from the Elder Conservatorium of Music having completed his Bachelor of Music with first class Honours under the instruction of Associate Professor Elizabeth Koch AM.
Andrew has received numerous scholarships including the Tertiary Colin Oliver Music Scholarship, David Cubbin Memorial Grant in addition to support from the Helpmann Academy, PPCA Performers Trust and Carclew. Most recently, Andrew was awarded the Elder Overseas Scholarship to travel and study with some of the worlds most esteemed flautists and pedagogues in Amsterdam and Switzerland.
In 2015 and 2016 Andrew travelled across Europe to partake in masterclasses, intensive summer courses and performances. Highlights included performing the UK premiere of a flute quintet by Reza Nakisa in addition to being involved in concerts in France and Romania.
In both 2014 and 2016 Andrew participated in the Australian Youth Orchestra National Music Camp as a part of the Hopkins Chamber Orchestra and Alexander Orchestra respectively. In addition, he has held orchestral positions in the Adelaide Youth Orchestra, Adelaide Wind Orchestra, the Elder Conservatorium of Music Symphony and Wind Orchestras in a range of positions including Principal Flute and Piccolo.
2018 is Andrew’s second year at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) and he is so very happy to be furthering his musical journey under the tutelage of Virginia Taylor.
