After being selected as the only student to play the horn at her primary school in Brisbane, Rebecca Luton eventually went on to play in the Queensland Youth Orchestras for five years and then complete her Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium under Peter Luff and Ysolt Clark. During her degree she completed a 6-month internship with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, performed as a soloist with the Queensland Philharmonia, and especially enjoyed her time playing in the award winning Conservatorium Horn Ensemble.
In 2015, Rebecca moved to Melbourne to study with Ben Jacks and Andrew Bain at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM), where she is honoured to be receiving world-class teaching and training. She was involved in the Australian Youth Orchestras for three years, and in 2016 was principal horn on their international tour, performing in Europe and China. Bec is also an accomplished freelancer, having performed with the Queensland, Melbourne and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras. In addition to this, she enjoys performing chamber music, having played with the Arcadia Wind Quintet and regularly programming chamber music into her recitals at ANAM.
